Buick Regal: Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.

3.

Engine Mechanical - 2.0L (LTG)

Oil Pan Drain Plug (1) - Remove.

4. Oil Pan Drain Plug Seal (2) - Remove and DISCARD.

5. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container.

Engine Mechanical - 2.0L (LTG)

Remove and DISCARD the oil filter. (1)

7. Ensure that the old oil filter seal has been removed.

Installation Procedure

1.

Engine Mechanical - 2.0L (LTG)

CAUTION: Fastener Caution.

Oil Pan Drain Plug Seal (2) - Install NEW.

2. Oil Pan Drain Plug (1) - Install and tighten 25N.m (18 lb ft).

Engine Mechanical - 2.0L (LTG)

Lubricate the NEW oil filter gasket with clean engine oil.

4. Install a NEW oil filter and tighten 3/4 to 1 full turn after the gasket makes contact with the sealing surface on the filter mounting flange.

5. Remove the drain pan.

6. Lower the vehicle.

CAUTION: Using engine oils of any viscosity other than those viscosities recommended could result in engine damage.

7. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil.

8. Start the engine and allow it to run until the oil pressure control indicator goes off.

9. Check and correct the engine oil level.

10. Perform the engine oil life reset.
